Connecticut Child Agency Puts Social Worker in School
Cheers to TheDay.com in for this article about investigative social worker Richard Days from the Connecticut Department of Children and Families.
The agency placed Days at Bennie Dover Jackson Middle School in New London so he could help the school solve issues with children before they escalate or advise teachers if authorities needed to get involved.
For instance Days was able to find help from a 12-year-old abuse victim from another town who was found in the school parking lot. And he was able to counsel the parents of a student who had poor hygiene.
Days said getting involved on the community level has enabled him to become more involved in his work.
“I’ll see parents out in the community and they’ll come up and talk to me. That would never happen before,” he said.
