Jeers to Cleveland School District for budget cuts that led to it laying off all social workers.

The school system also has only 24 nurses to serve 40,000 students, according to this article on WKYC.com.

Cleveland schools are contracting out some of the services social workers used to provide. However, students must meet certain qualifications to get this assistance, including having a diagnosis and being on Medicaid.

“Yes, I do worry about my students,” said school social worker Sarah Lundeen, who lost her job. “They just don’t have what they need. And they don’t have people to help them navigate.”
