Aspiring Social Worker Meets Rebel in “Remember Me”

Actress Emilie de Ravin plays “Ally Craig,” a New York City social work student who falls in love with a brooding Tyler Keats Hawkins (actor Robert Pattinson) in the new movie “Remember Me.”

Here’s the set up. Tyler is a depressed college student coping with his older brother’s suicide and an aloof, business executive father. A policeman unfairly arrests Tyler and Tyler’s friend suggests he gets revenge by dating the cop’s daughter, who by coincidence is Ally.

However, Ally ends up helping him heal.

The two lead actors may be familiar. De Ravin also stars on ABC’s “Lost” and Hawkins plays dashing vampire Edward Cullen in the “Twilight” vampire movie series.

Q: Social workers, have you seen the film? What do you think about de Ravin’s portrayal?

  1. I just saw the movie today. Emilie de Ravin’s character explains in a dinner scene that she wants to be a social worker in the criminal justice field because her mother was murdered when she was young. It is also briefly mentioned that the lead character’s mom is a social worker. Other than these two instances, social work is not mentioned. The movie seemed to portray social work in a very neutral way.
