Social Work Scenes Cut From “Amelia” DVD

Before she became the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic, trailblazing aviator Amelia Earhart was a social worker at Boston’s Denison House.

The 2009 movie “Amelia” starring Hilary Swank included some scenes depicting Earhart’s social work career. But those scenes were deleted from the DVD version released this month, according to this item on the Hollywood Oubreak Web site and this movie review in the California Chronicle.

All the deleted scenes, including the social worker ones, make the DVD version appear “chopped up,” the review in the California Chronicle said.

  1. This is NOT cool. And makes me mad I missed it in-theater. If it was good enough for the theater release, why not the DVD?! ARGH!
