Social worker’s necessity is mother of invention

Chicago social worker Liz Salcedo’s iPhone often ran out of power while she ran around to meet clients and sometimes she would forget to recharge it at night.

So she and her husband Dan, who is founder of an e-commerce business, invented a purse that has a pocket that has a wireless iPhone charger, according to this article in the Chicago Tribune.

“We were in the kitchen like mad scientists,” Dan said.

The Salcedos have launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise enough money to bring their invention, which they call the “Everpurse,” to market.

Cheers to the Chicago Tribune for covering a story that shows how versatile and creative social workers can be.
