Social Worker’s Heroes are Families Living with Alzheimer’s

Elena Godfrey

Cheers to the Rockford Register Star for this sometimes light-hearted profile of National Association of Social Workers member Elena Godfrey.

Godfrey, MSW, is a social worker and care navigator for the Alzheimer’s Association in Rockford, Ill. Godfrey was inspired to work with the elderly when she was a little girl who loved to visit her great-grandmother at an assisted living facility.

Godfrey told the newspaper her heroes are families living with Alzheimer’s disease. “Individuals and families living and loving in the midst of dementia are my constant inspiration,” she said.
