Social Worker Providing Role Model for Basketball-Playing Son

Cheers to the Roanoke Times in Virginia for this article on Erick Green, a point guard for the Virginia Tech basketball team.

Why does SocialWorkersSpeak.org like this article? Green is the son of Tami, a social work supervisor for the Frederick County Department of Social Services, and Erick Green Sr., a parole officer.

Erick and Tami Green have been foster parents for 13 youth and set an example for Erick Jr. of offering compassion and shelter to others.

“All kids just want a place where they’re wanted and cared for and it’s a safe place,” Tami Green said.

Erick may follow in his parent’s foosteps. He is majoring in sociology and may become a parole officer like his father or work with children like his mother.
