Social Worker Part of Duo Pushing for New Vikings Stadium
Social workers do many things but did you know any social workers who are trying to build a stadium for a professional football team?
National Association of Social Workers member Rafael Ortega, MSW, ACSW, is a county commissioner in Ramsey County, in the Minneapolis-St.Paul metropolitan area.
Ortega is teaming with fellow commissioner Tony Bennett to build a new Minnesota Vikings Stadium in the county on the site of a former Army ammunition plant, according to a Minnesota Public Radio article.
Ortega argues the project would serve the social good by bringing jobs and helping clean up one of the largest Superfund sites in the nation.
” Those are key motivating issues for me,” he said.
Cheers to Minnesota Public Radio for highlighting Ortega’s work. You can click here to read the entire Minnesota Public Radio article about Ortega and Bennett.
Q: Do you know other social workers in politics?
