Kudos to Rhode Island’s Warwick Beacon for this article on social worker Peggy Porter-Quinlan and her daughter Mary Quinlan-Finnigan.

They will run a local “Dress for Success” program that finds clothing to help needy women prepare for job interviews and the work world. Their clients will  include homeless women and former prison inmates.

Porter-Quinlan said many people do not realize how dressing well can bolster a person’s sense of self worth. Her daughter is an image consultant who will provide clients styling advice.

“We are able to provide these women that extra shot of confidence they need,” Porter-Quinlan said.

Porter-Quinlan’s work demonstrates the wide array of services social workers provide. To learn more about the life affirming work social workers do, click here to visit the National Association of Social Workers’ “Help Starts Here” Web site.
