NBC Chicago recently ran a very heart-warming story on a social worker and his buddy.

Illinois social worker Dan Coyne has been handing his money to cashier Myra De La Vega for a decade and a friendship grew. But little did De La Vega know that Coyne would volunteer to donate a kidney to her after her health failed.

“It gives me chills just just to see that he would do this just because of his generosity,” she said.

The principal has declared a “Dan Coyne Day” at Pershing East Magnet School where Dan works and students are following Coyne’s example by sending get-well cards to La Rabida Children’s Hospital.
