Social Work Student Goes Undercover
Cheers to the Bangor Daily News for this article about University of Maine social work graduate student Kara Janes, who went undercover at an assisted living facility to get a feel for how residents there really live.
At times Janes, who played the part of a stroke patient, felt isolated and lonely. However, she said the experience will help her be a better social worker.
“I have this overwhelming sense of responsibility that I need to be the voice for the people who go through this day after day, month after month,” she said.
