Social Networking, Mentor Group Helps Vets Adjust to Civilian Life
Hats off to the Houston Chronicle for its article on Lone Star Veterans Association, a group that uses mentors to help veterans readjust to civilian life. National Association of Social Workers member Cheryl Houlette, MSW, said the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center where she works will use mentors from the program.
“This is a guy who has actually been there, done that and they’re actually on the same wavelength,” she said. “It’s a big difference between somebody telling them what to do and somebody actually living it out.”
