School Social Workers Help Families in Need
Thanks to the Branson Tri-Lakes News in Missouri for this article on a Christmas Assistance Program started by National Association of Social Workers member Lisa Furtkamp.
The program provides clothing, shoes, toys and other items to needy families. The article said the program will serve 294 families in the Branson School District this year, up from 104 in 1997.
Despite the increased need Furtkamp, who is a school district social worker, said the program manages to get enough donations. “The community really does step up,” she said.
