National Association of Social Workers member Masaru Oshiro has been selected as one of five 2011 Living Treasures of Hawaii, according to this article in the Star Advertiser.

The award is given to people who demonstrated excellence in their fields and made lifelong, significant contributions toward creating a humane society, often without public recognition, the article said. The award is given by the Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawaii.
