Nebraska considering laws to reduce child welfare caseloads

Nebraska’s legislature has taken the first step toward approving a plan that would reduce child welfare caseloads by 25 percent a year and move privatized child welfare care back under state control, according to this KATU.com article.

NASW Nebraska Chapter Executive Director Terry Werner said via email the chapter is familiar with the legislation, which has been under consideration for several years. Werner said the legislation is a wonderful opportunity for social workers, particularly social workers with bachelors degrees.

“I have been working with the Health and Human Services Committee o include more on the training of frontline workers,” he said.

Thanks for advocating on behalf of social workers in Nebraska Terry!
