Minnesota Nonprofit Connects Social Workers with the Community

When he was a child Pete Singer had a friend with an abusive father. That abusive father killed the younger brother of Singer’s friend and was in turn shot to death by his wife.

Singer’s mother told him the church and community knew about the family’s issues but no one got them help. So the adult Singer created Care in Action, an organization that connects social workers with churches, community groups, businesses and individuals to help families plagued by abuse and neglect.

“There’s a divide between churches and the child protection system; there’s a divide between the community and the child protection system, and we have to do something to break that down because the victims are the kids,” Singer said.

Cheers to the Oakdale Patch near Minneapolis for writing about Singer’s work. To read the complete article, click here.
