Cheers to the Wall Street Journal for this article on National Association of Social Workers member Froma Benerofe, 69, who says her Jewish faith and Jewish ethics have enhanced her role as a social worker.

“I could connect with anybody with a spiritual background, Catholic, Muslim or anyone. I could connect with them on spiritual beliefs,” Benerofe said.

Benerofe and her husband made a $1 million gift in support of scholarships to Yeshiva University’s Wurzweiler School of Social Work a few years ago.

Benerofe entered the social work profession later in life. Despite being a social worker for 30 years Benerofe says many people still do not appreciate the profession.

Social work students and professionals are people with a lot of integrity, she said.
