The Michigan residents are all aged 66 or more and retired. Part of the reason for biking 3,700 miles from San Francisco to Yorktown, Va., is to complete a trip they planned a decade ago but aborted, the article said.

One of the members of the team, Gary Nederveld, is also raising money for the Association for a More Just Society.
