Jeers to the U.S. Congress for an early ending to the Smart Choices Program, which provides funding for school social workers in the York, Pa. area, according to this article in the York Daily Record.
The school district is scrambling to get a new grant to keep five social workers on staff. Ginia Moorehead, a senior at York’s William Penn High School, and others lobbied the school board to save the job of social worker Barb Leonard.

“People are knocking on her door nonstop,” Moorehead said. “She’s some stability in our lives.”
