Marie Surprenant, 8, was abused as an infant and lost her ability to walk. She was placed in foster care and adopted by social worker Michele Surprenant.

Marie wrote a letter thanking social workers and detectives from saving her from the “bad guys” who had hurt her. Michele said as time goes by Marie speaks less about the traumatic incidents that happened when she was an infant.

“I want to thank you for making me happy by giving me a new warm safe environment,” Marie wrote.
