Kudos to New York Times reporter Jennifer Mascia for her article “The Neediest Cases: After Katrina, Struggle for High Ground.”

The story demonstrates how social workers change lives for the better. The advice of an unnamed social worker helped New Orleans evacuee Jennifer Hero get rent assistance and money to train to launch a new career.

  1. Positive, well founded and needed article by Jennifer Mascia in the New York Times entitled, “The Neediest Cases: After Katrina, The Struggle for High Ground”. Social workers help people to recover from crisis, and provide victims of crisis with linkage to essential concrete services and support. This is certainly one of a vast array of ways in which our profession changes lives for the better. For this we should be proud! I am.
