TLC on August 30, 2015 aired “Breaking the Silence,” a public service program that features social worker and sexual abuse survivor Erin Merryn.

A relative and family friend abused Merryn as a child. After a suicide attempt she opened up about her trauma and decided to help others.

Merryn wrote a book “Stolen Innocence” and lobbied to have Erin’s Law passed in all 50 states. The law calls for schools to educate children about sexual abuse prevention.

As of this year Erin’s Law has passed in 26 states and is pending in 24 others.
