SocialWorkersSpeak.org Wins Top Bulldog Award!

SocialWorkersSpeak.org won the top Gold Award for best use of digital/social media in a public affairs/awareness campaign.

The National Association of Social Workers’ SocialWorkersSpeak.org public education campaign has won a top honor in the prestigious 2012 Bulldog Magazine Digital/Social Public Relations Awards.

The awards recognize the most outstanding achievements in corporate communications and publicity using online and social media tools and techniques.

Bulldog Reporter, an Oakland, Calif., company that provides public relations industry news and high level training, accepted hundreds of applications for awards. Seventy Gold, Silver and Bronze Award winners in various categories were chosen by a team of working journalists.

SocialWorkersSpeak.org won the Gold Award in the best use of digital/social in a public affairs/awareness campaign category.

The Silver Award went to New York City-based M Booth Communications for its “Women Entrepreneurs are #PoweringTomorrow” campaign and Union Pacific Railroad Corporate Communications earned a Bronze Award for its Union Pacific 150th Anniversary Campaign.

SWS.org has helped social workers connect with influential people in Hollywood such as director Oren Moverman.

NASW launched SocialWorkersSpeak.org in October 2009 to help social workers follow and influence how they and issues they care about are portrayed in the news, on television and in film.

The SocialWorkersSpeak.org website, Facebook page and Twitter feed have helped social workers connect with and advise the entertainment industry, including award-winning director and screenwriter Oren Moverman; Carol Barbee, executive producer of the Fox series “Touch”; and the Oprah Winfrey Network.

SocialWorkersSpeak.org also helps social workers find and address unfair depictions of social workers in the media.

“NASW is honored to have received such a well-respected award in the public relations industry,” said NASW Senior Communications and Public Relations Specialist Greg Wright, who manages SocialWorkersSpeak.org.

“We are thrilled that our organization is being recognized for promoting the many positive contributions social workers make in society and for working to correct misinformation about the profession.”

Bulldog Digital/Social Public Relations Award winners will receive a physical award and winning campaigns will be summarized in the Bulldog Awards Digital/Social Awards Hall of Fame magazine, which will be published in February 2013, and in Bulldog Reporter’s Daily ‘Dog online trade journal.
