Los Angeles County is hiring more employees, including psychiatric social workers, to bolster its trouble Probation Departmentm, according to this article in the Daily News.

The hires are part of a move to meet a settlement with the U.S. Justice Department, the article said. The Probation Department has had to handle allegations of employee theft, organized fighting in juvenile halls, sexual abuse of minors and mismanagement of internal disciplinary investigations.
