In Memory: Julia Joffe

Social worker Julia Joffe, who was a psychiatry administrator and therapist at New York’s White Plains Hospital before retiring in 1992, died at her home on July 6, according to this obituary in the White Plains DailyVoice.

Joffe was 86 years old. She had suffered from pulmonary fibrosis.

Joffe earned a master’s degree in social work from Columbia University. Early in her career she was a social worker for Charity Association of San Antonio University of Texas Medical. After retiring from White Plains Hospital she went into private practice.

During her career Joffe was a member of the National Association of Social Workers, Group Psychotherapy Association, Orthopsychiatric Association and other organizations.

She was predeceased by her husband Lester Joffe. She is survived by four children and six grandchildren.
