In Memoriam: Jill Ryan Swartsel

Jill Ryan Swartsel. Photo courtesy of the Swartsel Family.Jill Ryan Swartsel, a social worker who served dialysis patients at the DaVita dialysis center in Casselberry, Fla., fought like a “pit bull” to ensure her clients got insurance coverage and transportation.

Swartsel, 66, had a long career in social issues. She was a Peace Corps volunteer in India and worked in Vietnamese orphanages for Catholic Relief Services. She died Dec. 5 from mesothelioma.

  1. A person who advocated like a pit bull in the interest of her clients. Jill Ryan Swarstel was a social worker! May she now RIP.
