Social worker Susan Pease Gadoua, MSW, got training on how to counsel clients to handle grief, death, dying, and other issues. However, Pease Gadoua wrote in this Huffington Post article that she never got training on how to guide families through the often painful process of divorce.

“Curious about it, I asked my class of several dozen counselors if they had ever taken or seen a class on divorce and all shook their heads no,” said Pease Gadoua, who recently spoke at a National Association of Social Workers California Chapter conference.
