Tornado Survivors Also Need Mental Health Needs Met
Survivors of a tornado that struck Joplin, MO need more than food, clothes and shelter. They also need their mental health needs met, National Association of Social Workers Ruth Meyer said in this article in the Telegragh newspaper of Alton, IL.
“In Joplin, I will be there wherever I am needed to provide emergency psychological first aid,” said Meyer, who is retired and volunteers with the American Red Cross.
The tornado that hit Joplin on Sunday leveled part of the city and claimed at least 125 lives. It was the deadliest tornado to hit the United States since record keeping began 61 years ago.
