Mothers-In-Law Don’t Have to be Monsters
The 2005 comedy “Monster-in-Law” starring Jane Fonda and Jennifer Lopez plays off the notion there will always be friction between brides and their mothers-in-law.
However, National Association of Social Workers member Leesa Sitter, MSW, LSCW, said that dynamic is not inevitable. Sitter offers advice to woman on being good in-laws in this article in the Shreveport Times.
Sitters’ No. 1 piece of advice: “Remember that your child has a new role in his or her life. Appreciate the demands on their time and the boundaries that your child may have to set on their time and energy.”
