Two NASW Members Featured Prominently in Alzheimer’s Article

Photo by Elizabeth Brandon of Medill.Northwestern University’s Medill journalism school did a great news article on Alzheimer’s disease that quoted two National Association of Social Workers members.

Perhaps more importantly, the reporter identified Darby Morhardt and Danielle Dodson first by what they are — social workers — and not their job titles.

That was an important point to note. Social work is a diverse field that covers many disciplines but the public won’t know this  unless social workers who speak to reporters stress that they be identified by their profession and not exact job title.

Morhardt is director of education at Northwestern University’s Cognitive Neurology and Alzheimer’s Disease Center and Dodson is care navigator for the Greater Illinois Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
