The association surveyed applicants twice, and found they “​​​​struggle to determine where they are in the process and what pieces of the application may be holding them up.” Many had applied for licenses as far back as 2020.

While many people are spending Valentine’s Day with a special someone in their lives, a new survey shows that love could be less of a focus for the younger generation. According to a 2021 Pew Research Center study, around 62% of Americans ages 25-54 lived with a partner or were married. That’s a drop from 71% three decades ago. Richard Scheinberg, licensed clinical social worker and the creator and director of Sunrise Counseling Center, says there is a lot of worry and fear when it comes to dating during the pandemic.

This week, Democratic lawmakers held a press conference highlighting their top priorities for the current legislative session and acknowledging the “mental health fallout” from the pandemic.  Lawmakers plan to introduce several measures supporting children’s mental health, including increasing funding for school social workers. Stephen A. Wanczyk-Karp, executive director of Connecticut’s chapter of the National Association of Social Workers, said: “I’ve been in this field since 1977. And I’ve never seen this level of interest for social work.”

A bill sponsored by Assemblywoman Angela McKnight (D-Hudson) seeks to get police and communities together in regular meetings. Jeff Feldman of the National Association of Social Workers, New Jersey chapter said that while such meetings are already taking place in some communities, the bill would codify the process.
