In Memory: Rebecca Tobias

Rebecca Tobias, 67, a retired social worker and National Association of Social Workers member who specialized in elderly and hospice care, died March 31 from brain cancer.

A decade ago Tobias helped create  Living Independently for Elders (LIFE), a program sponsored by the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing.

She and her husband Stephen were also featured in the recent four-part PBS series “This Emotional Life,” discussing how they benefitted from marriage counseling.

  1. I met Rebecca when I was an MSW student working at Einstein 18 yrs ago. To me she was a role model of excellence, a social worker I aspired to be like. May her memory be for a blessing. My sincerest sympathy to her family.
