In Memory: Peter Kirwin

Peter Kirwin, 67, director of  Falmouth Human Services in Massachusetts and a National Association of Social Workers member, died April 23 from brain cancer.

Kirwin, MSW, was a long-time social activist. He provided a variety of services to his community, including helping people with pychiatric disabilities and grief counseling. More importantly he was always ready to give a helping hand to clients, friends and colleagues.

Kirwin’s legacy will continue because he supervised students at  Bridgewater State College, Boston College and his alma mater Boston University.

Kirwin also lived long enough to see a center that serves people with psychiatric disabilities renamed in his honor earlier this month. “His spirit will be with us always. That kind of grace does not die. He made us all better people,” colleague George Spivey said.

  1. Such a nice tribute to a man who made an impact on his community. His work hopefully will be carried on through the students that he touched throughout his practice.
