Blinded Man Struggles to Finish Social Work Degree

Okechukwo Anyanwu already lost sight in his right eye to glaucoma when he was attacked after leaving a social work internship at Beth Israel Medical Center.

The assault left himĀ blinded in his left eye.

Now the 44-year-old Nigerian immigrant and Newark, N.J., resident is struggling to complete his master’s degree at RutgersĀ University School of Social Work.

According to this NJ.com article, Anyanwu forgives his attacker, who has not been found. “He needs help, and I would be willing to provide guidance if I can,” he said.
