Social workers complete comprehensive psychosocial evaluations for all patients referred for transplant or live organ donation to determine if they meet psychosocial selection criteria.

Senate committee advances communication regulations for counselors, social workers

The Idaho Senate Health and Welfare Committee has unanimously approved by voice vote two measures that will expand communication-related regulations placed upon mental health counselors and social workers. “Our board is working with other mental health boards to deal with this communication technology,” noted Roger Hales, an attorney who works with the Idaho Bureau of Occupational Licenses (IBOL).

She said it can connect those who need support from any location during any time of day, particularly in the middle of the night.

“Mothers often feel a lot of different emotional things when the baby comes into the NICU, one thing is they feel afraid and they do feel guilt,” said Hiedi Linder, a clinical social worker in the NICU at St. Vincent Women’s Health in Indianapolis. Those emotions can turn into anxiety and depression months or even years after the child comes home from the hospital.
