<div id="attachment_968" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 110px"><img class="size-full wp-image-968" title="Tully" src="http://www.socialworkersspeak.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/Tully.jpg" alt="Matthew Tully" width="100" height="100" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Matthew Tully</p></div>
<p><em>Indianapolis Star</em> columnist Matt Tully is writing an <a href="http://www.indystar.com/section/NEWS17&amp;template=theme&amp;theme=manual" target="_blank">article series</a> on Manual, a city high school with a 39 percent graduation rate. More than 70 percent of students also qualify for free or reduced lunch, an indicator of poverty.</div>
<p>Social Workers Speak! likes that Matt interviewed a social worker who is reaching out to students. In the article, &#8220;<a href="http://www.indystar.com/article/20091122/NEWS08/911220388/-1/NEWS17/A-message-to-Manual-People-care" target="_blank">A Message to Manual: People Care,&#8221; </a>Tully mentioned Jan Gildner, a faculty member at the <a href="http://socialwork.iu.edu/" target="_blank">Indiana University School of Social Work</a>.</p>
<p>Gildner is mentoring two Manual High students who said they are interested in social work careers. &#8220;You reach a point in your career where you want to give back,&#8221; Gildner said.</p>
