Social Work Program for Pregnant Women, New Mothers in House Version of Health Care Bill
The House version of the health care reform bill would create a home visitation program that would allow social workers to do at-home visits with low-income pregnant women and new mothers. I am writing to ask if and when this Bill might be passed. I have a daughter who is single, pregnant and has MS. This would be a really great program for her. She needs someone. She lives in Reno and I am here in Cleveland, OH. It’s hard as I am unable to be there with her. My husband has Parkinson’s disease and I live 3 thousand miles away.

It has been several years since that item posted so I am unsure whether this bill passed. However, I would urge you to use NASW’s Social Work Finder (http://www.helpstartshere.org/find-a-social-worker) to find a social worker who lives near your daughter who can advise her on available services. I would also urge you to contact NASW’s Nevada Chapter. They may know of social workers in Reno who could advise your daughter where to go to get help.
